Congratulations! to our 'September Issue' comepition winners!
Belle Époque would like to thank all those Fashionista's out there who sent in their best fashion finds to win double passes to our 'September Issue' Competition, thanks to Palace Centro Barracks and Madman Cinema.
We have since announced the winner's and have posted below three of the winners stories for you to enjoy. Thank you to Vanessa Taylor, Lindsay Rose Wilkins and Annette Head for allowing us to post your fantastic stories!
With a tight budget I am always on the look for a great value fashion find. My latest adventure was a 15 minute run through the Jane Lamerton range at Myer Carindale where I picked up a designer work shirt with cufflinks 70% off the marked priced (full price was around $220). I was most excited as I had only run on a mission for my daughter. Love to see the September issue movie as it sounds just like something I would really enjoy. Vanessa Taylor
Best Fashion Find; I was wandering through the cobbled backstreets off High St, of Angel Islington a couple of years ago, enjoying my morning ritual of takeaway escargot pastry and cappuccino. Heading towards my favorite Antique clothing store Annie's , I spied a gorgeous 1930's crimped silk gown. As I pressed my face up against the glass for close inspection, Fwap! Flutter! Ouch! a pigeon crashed over, bouncing off my head and into the shop's front doors, disappearing with a thwump, beneath the crinoline of a victorian sundress draped over a sitting mannequin. My breakfast left on a side-table in the doorway, I scuttled in, wading through skirts and petticoats to rescue the bird from between the legs of the fibre-glass beauty. With my head immersed in lace and my legs sticking out, and with the shop owner faffing about chiming "don't let it poop on anything!" I managed to locate the bird and push it out behind me, letting it flutter away. As I wiggled my bottom in the air to back out from the skirting, I bumped a faded box. Looking inside I found a rich burgundy, u-shaped feather piece two hands in length. I surfaced with it and asked the shop owner what it was. We tuned it over and it had a stamp "Parisian Headdress, 1934". I put it to my head and it curled naturally and grandly around my hair. "fourty pounds" , she said. "30" I demanded. "done".
It is the oldest and most glamorous item in my wardrobe. Lindsay Rose Wilkins
My best fashion find?...Shyly lingering between the carefully draped couture creations by Versace and Prada, YSL and Ossie Clark, I never expected my most prized fashion find to be hiding in a Designer Vintage Shop in Munich. But alas, there, in all its mustard and steel woven glory complete with black applique tattoo patch, patent cased zips and feature collar was my Moschino trench...just waiting to meet me...we've been lovers ever since...it's never let me down...it always keeps me warm...it forgives my sluggish days and shares my best. Yep, it'll always be me 'n Moschino...my favourite fashion find! Annette Head
