Bastille Day

Experience some genuine French flamboyant flair as we celebrate Bastille Day, the French national holiday.  

Enjoy our scrumptious three course set dinner on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 of July. Savour our famous Belle Époque Salad with warm goat's cheese and smoked duck breast, or soak up some Bouillabaisse with our house-made baguette. Our French Chef Sebastien Labbé welcomes you to indulge in his mouth watering menu.

Dine to the beat of "Paris Dreaming" a classical guitar and accordion duo and be dazzled by our Can Can Girls who will wow diners on both nights.
There will be a raffle for the Mater Foundation's Little Miracles charity. Prizes include gourmet hampers, French lessons, luxurious mini-breaks and lots more splendid surprises.

It's all about love, life, food and friends this winter....

Aperitif Hour

Belle Champagne..calling all lovers of French champagne

We would like to introduce you to the new Belle Époque First Tuesday Champagne Club. Run in conjunction with Bernadette O'Shea (Brisbane's resident Champagne Consultant), the night provides you with an opportunity to try a selection of beautiful champagnes.

On Tuesday 7 July between 5:30pm and 7:30pm, we will be featuring four vintage Pol Roger Champagnes.

Recipe from head chef - Sebastien Labbé

Each newsletter we will be featuring a recipe from head chef, Sebastien Labbé.

Soupe à L'oignon Gratiné
Traditional French Onion Soup

Serves 4

Ingredients:
Brown onions 12
White chicken stock 2L
Madeira 2 glasses
Rounds of toasted baguette 8
Grated Gruyere cheese 100g
Duck fat 30g
Salt & pepper

Method:
1. Slice onions thinly and then slowly sauté in the duck fat until they are soft and deep brown. This may take up to 30 minutes.
2. Add the Madeira and reduce by a third.
3. Add the white chicken stock.
4. Allow to cook for 20 minutes (the onions must be meltingly tender and the soup must be a nice brown color)
5. Season.
6. To serve, divide the soup into four bowls, cover with baguette toasts and grated cheese.
7. To finish, place under the grill to gratinate the dish.
8. Serve immediately.
